Stone Medicine
Stone Medicine is the ancient practice of applying hot & cold stone to assist with the inner healing of physical, emotional & spiritual. Jenny Ray, a Native American Shaman, has brought the stone medicine techniques forward. Some of the stone strokes were gifted to her from her father's vision, while others have been passed down from her ancestors in the Bear Clan of the Thompson family. The strokes are a combination of stone placements and stone movements that represent different aspects of nature. Some of the different massage moves are made with a combination of stones and are named after certain animals because of their qualities and sounds. These include the otter, cricket & rattle snake massage moves. Most of the stone medicine strokes can be used in combination with the LaStone body massage treatments I offer.
Balancing the Water Fall A wonderful treatment that is a combination of cold stone pressure and guided visualisations. It is a deeply relaxing treatment and is effective in quietening the nervous system. This allows the water in the body to balance and harmonise. It is a particular effective treatment for any neurological conditions such as sciatic pain, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and nerve pain.
Stone Cocoon A Native American tradition that touches the soul. The body is surrounded in hot stones to help ground and heal. The treatment honours ceremony, breath, energy & the magic of the stones. The stone are applied with the client usually lying on their front, and is a wonderful way to invigorate and heal any hurts from the past. It allows us to fully connect with the present moment and reminds of the healing properties Mother Nature has to other. Reiki and sound healing can be introduced to help bring an extra depth of healing to the treatment. A wonderful therapy for anyone in need of a treatment to touch the soul.
Three Relations This is a sacred stroke that includes stone placement to build a necklace, make a breastplate and head dress. It is a very empowering treatment and is wonderful to assist with confidence problems and a general feeling of powerless. It is a very similar treatment to the Shamanic power animal retrieval and often can be used in combination to allow us to sit fully in our own power and essence.
Grandmother Cedar This stroke is great for anyone who is feeling ungrounded and/or disconnected from Mother Earth or Creator. Sometimes, this disconnection creates symptoms of feeling "a little off". It can encompass mild depression, fatigue, or as 'heaviness' in the body. This disconnection can also surface as emotions of feeling edgy or anxious, or someone who feel insecure about life. It can also be very beneficial for anyone who is recovering from surgery or who has recently had chemotherapy treatment. It combines stone placements to represent our trunk as the trunk of a tree, our arms are the branches & our legs are the roots.
Rebuilding the Lodge The sacred strokes creates the shape of a tipi, an ancient symbol representing these family, and also helps to reconnect us with our ancestral knowledge and support. This stroke can be most helpful for those who are going through a change in the structure of their family such as a divorce, separation, and death or sending the last child out of the nest. It can be helpful for anyone going through a grieving process, or for anyone that is coping with separation from a person or substance. On a physical note, this treatment process can also be helpful for those who are suffering from any digestive problems. Grief is a natural process, and needs to be gone through for healing. This treatment can be helpful for someone who feels that they have been grieving for too long, and wants to finish the process of healing and grieving. This stroke works to reconnect the client with the "home" and "family" from where they can draw support.
